Gary also mentioned that there is a $24.00 reservation fee added to your hotel, registration, and ride fees for the conference this year. This fee is due to the fact that a travel agency is handling all of the arrangements this year.
Also it was announced that as of the current time, there will be no bike show at this year’s conference. After heated discussion it was decided that we will propose to the International board that our chapter will run a bike show at the conference if approved my them and accepted by the chapter running the conference.
Some advice was brought forth by the members for first time conference goers.
1. If at all possible, don’t ride out by yourself. If you cannot hook up with someone else to ride out, make sure you give other members of the chapter your route and itinerary so that we can help if you have problems.
2.
During the conference you will be kept busy so it might not be a good idea to plan any extra rides or sightseeing during the conference.
3.
If Iyou want to extend your stay it is suggested that you arrive early instead of staying later. Sturgis begins right after our conference and room rates will be substancialy higher. The floor was opened for suggestions as to what rides we would like to do for the coming season. The following suggestions were made.
1. A ride to Johnny’s Hot Dogs on Rt. 46 in Buttsville.
2. A ride to the Finger Lakes.
3. Autumn Days in Elizabethtown (Sept 19th)
4. Taps Ceremony at Ft. Indiantown Gap. (May 16th)
5. A Grotto Pizza run to Harvey’s Lake
6. A ride to State College
7. A ride “around the block”
We also discussed having some short social rides to area bike nights. The locations included Quaker Steak and Lube in Bloomsburg, Skeeters in Shamokin Dam, Damons in West Hazleton, and Lonestar in Wilkes-Barre.
The ride schedule will be finalized at the next meeting so that members will be able to plan for rides in advance.
We also decided that a new section to the newsletter will be added to inform members of any local/ national motorcycle events that are coming up. If you know of any, please let Bill know so he can add them to the list.
The next meeting will be held on March 14 , 2009 at Knapp Lodge in Berwick at 4:00 P.M.
Meeting closed in Harmony at 5:30 P.M. A great social time was had by the member’s at Bandits after the meeting . Bill Greenly Sec.
